Energy efficiency in the NW USA woods
Building 2042 sq ft living area home in the NW woods. The easiest way to get state of WA energy credits would have been solar panels, but to situate the house on the property the way we wanted the roof was facing the wrong direction (NW) and I think the best way to save energy is to use less anyway. So we built with 10 inch SIP panel roofing (R49), ZIP System® R-sheathing in addition to in-wall insulation (R26), triple pain windows, tested air leakage w/whole house heat recovery ventilation (HRV), air-source centrally ducted heat pump, electric heat pump host water heating AND….
